Dell EMC now calls itself a “digital transformation” company, but with a sticky reputation for legacy infrastructure and little software, can it sell this to enterprises?EMC has shown it can indeed sell to enterprises. “They know how to tell the enterprise sales motion, which is the biggest challenge in today’s industry,” said John Furrier (@furrier) (pictured, right), co-host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile live streaming studio.

Researchers Explore Details of Critical VMware Vulnerability

Researchers have published the details of an investigation into CVE-2020-3952, a major vulnerability in VMware's vCenter that was disclosed and patched on April 9. The flaw was given a CVSS score of 10. CVE-2020-3952 exists in VMware's Directory Service (vmdir), which is a part of VMware vCenter Server, a centralized management platform for virtualized hosts and virtual machines. Through vCenter Server, the company says, an administrator can manage hundreds of workloads. The platform uses single sign-on (SSO), which includes vmdir, Security Token Service, an administration server, and the vCenter Lookup Service. Vmdir is also used for certificate management for the workloads vCenter handles.

Barracuda Networks commissioned a survey to explore the enterprise digital transformation in which the use of public cloud computing platforms is key, seeking to gauge the impact of security roadblocks and how they can be overcome. The unsurprising results confirmed that organizations are indeed moving their computing infrastructure to public clouds, and that security is the top concern restricting faster adoption. What's more, the number of organizations that report being attacked by cybersecurity villains has increased, affecting three quarters of respondents, up from 56 percent in 2017.

vSphere Tags were introduced in version 5.1 as a way to organize inventory objects such as VMs, Hosts, Datastores, etc., a much-needed feature for helping search for or group objects within vSphere. A Tag is basically a label that can be applied to vSphere inventory objects. When an administrator creates a tag, it is then assigned to a tag category. Categories allow the grouping of related tags. When a Category is created, you can specify associations of object types (such as; VM or Datastore) as well as whether more than one tag in a category can be applied to an object (ex; One Tag or Many Tags).
