Citrix buys Norskale, one of the best Workspace Environment Managers, for XenApp and XenDesktop. Norskale has a proven track record of customer success stories and is deployed across the world. Unlike other user environment management (UEM) solutions, Norskale has a holistic view of the workspace that includes the user, application, desktop and underlying system resources. Norskale leverages patent-pending machine-learning technology to monitor and analyze user and application behavior in real-time. Only Norskale has the ability to intelligently adjust the way applications utilize systems resources such as RAM, CPU and Input/Output (I/O) to optimize resource allocation across all users. This algorithm intelligence, now unique to Citrix, ensures that each user has the necessary resources to be productive while conserving overall resource allocation in a way that instantly increases server scalability by up to 70 percent, dramatically increasing your ROI.

Virtualization can transform your company’s IT infrastructure

Article | February 18, 2020

For many companies in today’s highly competitive, rapidly digitizing world, data center transformation is not merely a one-time project – it’s a constant challenge. No corporate IT leader should be content merely to revamp their data infrastructure once, then call it a day. Instead, they should always be looking for ways to make their approach to data more dynamic and easier to scale. Ideally, they’d do so in a way that maximizes resource utilization while minimizing costs. Luckily, that’s exactly the idea behind virtualization, which involves creating a new infrastructure that’s capable of rapidly scaling and facilitating workload development. IT leaders are quickly coming to realize that with virtualization in their toolbox, they’re able to make their operations more agile than ever, and without increasing costs. This is why over 80% of enterprise server workloads today are running on virtual machines, and the market for data center virtualization is expected to reach a total value of $10 billion by 2023.

vSphere 7 – Announcing General Availability of the New Generation of vSphere

Article | April 3, 2020

VMware vSphere 7, the new generation of vSphere, is now generally available. This major new release brings a massive improvement in the work experience of vSphere administrators, folks who are responsible for the security, performance, and resiliency of the infrastructure and applications that provide all the key services to their organizations. The purpose of this major release from vSphere is two-fold. The first is to embed containers and Kubernetes into vSphere, unifying them with virtual machines as first class citizens. This enables all vSphere administrators to become Kubernetes administrators and easily deliver new services to their developers. More on this in part two of this blog post, when vSphere 7 with Kubernetes becomes available as part of VMware Cloud Foundation 4. Inferencing at the Edge with HyperFlex

Article | March 3, 2020

While at this year’s Cisco Live! Barcelona, our staff interviewed many of the amazing thought leaders who joined us to demonstrate their work with Cisco. We’ll be sharing those interviews, and short blog post summaries, for the next few weeks. The first interview is about how Vispera, which makes visual intelligence solutions for retail, works with Cisco on inferencing at the edge with HyperFlex. As Erdem Yoruk, chief scientist at Vispera, explained, the company uses image recognition technology for its shelf monitoring and inventory management solution, Shelfsight. Cisco HyperFlex, together with Intel’s Xeon Scalable Processors, provides the compute power needed to perform inferencing at multiple retail locations. As they stood in front shelves with cereal and other products, Yoruk explained how Shelfsight, the latest product from Vispera, uses a camera solution for real-time shelf monitoring and in-store management. Running on Cisco HyperFlex Edge servers powered by scalable Intel Xeon processors, Shelfsight takes measurements from the shelves every 10 minutes. It recognizes every product visible on the shelf down to a granular level, generating KPI metrics and notifying store personnel of any non-compliance issues so that they can take immediate action and replenish the shelves as necessary.
