Organizations of all sizes are rapidly coming to the realization that they need a more sophisticated approach to how they manage data. Not only is there more data than ever to be managed, but various regulatory agencies around the world are holding organizations more accountable for how that data is employed. To address that challenge, Delphix today announced the general availability of a Delphix Dynamic Data Platform that makes it simpler to accessed distributed virtual copies of data sets, known as data pods, that can only be accessed by specific individuals regardless of where the data physically resides, including as of today Microsoft Azure Cloud. Patrick Lightbody, senior vice president of products for Delphix, says that approach to data virtualization reduces the friction that occurs inside most organizations when different groups try to access the same data sets. Rather than having to manage that contention, Lightbody says, IT organizations can give developers and data scientists copies of data that the IT organization can them determine when and how to update. Any changes made to that data can also be easily reverted to its original state, says Lightbody.

Recent IDC Report Highlights VMware Cloud on Dell EMC For Edge Compute

Article | March 18, 2020

Many businesses are discovering the need to compute enable the edge of their network. Whether it be a chain of brick and mortar stores, satellite healthcare clinics, or factories in remote locations, deploying compute at the edge allows applications to run in close proximity to internet- connected end user devices or machinery and the date generated by these devices. This allows real-time application interaction with these devices that otherwise would not be possible if data and applications were centrally hosted. While edge computing can significantly improve such things as customer interaction and real-time manufacturing efficiencies, IT organizations are often challenged by the cost and logistics of maintaining and servicing these decentralized compute end points. VMware and Dell EMC offer a straight-forward, easy to scale solution which optimally solves these challenges.

How 5G and edge computing can enhance virtual reality

Article | April 8, 2020

For some time now, 5G has been associated with the promise of new digital applications and services that come with a hyper-connected life. We have seen that this new technology, which provides “perfect” connectivity, creates new value for both us as individuals and to industries and enterprises. The current global pandemic is drastically impacting our daily lives, and as a result, the relevance of such digital applications and services is accelerating. For example, we suddenly see an increased need for communication services, tools for remote collaboration, and fast and reliable access to data – whether it’s from the office, the home or somewhere in between. Augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR) are two technology concepts providing significant benefits in this new digital reality. These technologies open new ways of working in areas such as manufacturing, gaming, media, automotive and healthcare, allowing for both increased productivity and completely new user experiences. In the Ericsson ConsumerLab merged reality report, 7 out of 10 early adopters expect VR and AR to change everyday life fundamentally.
