The name tocario is currently only known among insiders of the cloud provider community. The Germany-based company was previously only active as a technology supplier in the area of cloud and managed service providers. This should change fundamentally with the introduction of the new product. In recent years two major US vendors who have brought a constant flow of innovations to the market have dominated the world of on-premise desktop virtualization. The focus of these innovations, however, is primarily aimed at the needs of large enterprise customers. As a specialist for cloud technologies from Europe, tocario has always had a different perspective. In addition to the natural focus on data protection and data security, market conditions in Europe are also very different from the US. Small and medium-sized enterprises are significant part of the European economy.

T-Mobile to Slash $30M in Cloud Costs With Kubernetes

Article | April 3, 2020

T-Mobile US has found success with Kubernetes and currently operates 20,000 containers across its virtualized cloud infrastructure. In fact, over the next year the carrier claims the combination of centralized management of Kubernetes containers and a normalized approach to clusters will help it to slash $30 million in cloud costs. Thom McCann, senior manager and software engineer at T-Mobile, shared the carrier’s seven-year cloud journey progress this week as as part of D2iQ’s “Cloud Native Virtual Summit featuring Kubernetes.” From building applications manually, progressing to automation, and then implementing container-based workloads at scale, T-Mobile’s centralized cloud team has laid “bedrock foundations in place to deliver consistent cloud consumption in a large organization,” McCann said.

Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Remote/Branch Offices & Edge Computing

Article | February 10, 2020

Hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) is playing a significant role in building an enterprise multi-cloud environment. The benefits are well documented – you can learn more about them in a new white paper developed in collaboration with ViON, Fujitsu, and Nutanix, “Simplifying Multi-Cloud and Securing Mission Progress.” In addition to driving a cloud foundation, hyperconverged infrastructure is driving other use cases. In our first blog, we examined the impact that HCI can have in a disaster recovery solution. In this installment, we’ll discuss how HCI is changing the dynamics for remote offices and edge computing.
