Arrcus
Arrcus, the hyperscale networking software company and a leader in cloud-to-edge network infrastructure, today announced the next evolution in their partnership with VMware, focused on transforming telco networks to deliver next-gen services from the edge to the cloud. The expanded partnership will provide communication service providers with the ability to monetize their 5G infrastructure quicker and deliver new enterprise services more efficiently and with greater flexibility.

The Arrcus ACE platform is now certified as a VMware Ready Telco Cloud Infrastructure solution and available in the VMware Marketplace. Arrcus ACE interoperates with the VMware Telco Cloud Platform to enable communications service providers to accelerate the deployment of 5G workloads and more.

“Programmability of the network extends beyond the RAN. With today’s announcement, Arrcus’ ACE switching and routing platform has completed further certification with VMware’s Telco Cloud Platform and enables service providers to increase the monetizability of their 5G networks and extend them to the edge, This builds upon further capabilities that Arrcus and VMware began demonstrating at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year.”

Ray Mota, CEO and principal analyst at ACG Research

The Arrcus ACE platform is highly programmable and secure, available in a flexible array of consumption options like VMs, containers and software on white-boxes. ACE supports solutions like FlexMCN that dramatically simplifies multi-cloud networking for telcos and CSPs, providing secure connectivity across cloud instances. Arrcus ACE is complemented well by VMware Telco Cloud, which is a single platform where service providers can run and manage all their containerized network functions (CNFs) and virtualized network functions (VNFs) in a multi-cloud edge.

“Arrcus ACE solutions running on the VMware Telco Cloud Platform can transform telco networks for delivery of next-gen 5G services from the edge to the cloud,” said Stephen Spellicy, Vice President of Product Marketing and Solutions for VMware’s Telco & Edge Cloud. “Our partnership with Arrcus will equip telecom operators to offer solutions like multi- and hybrid cloud connectivity at the edge where low latency is required.”

Today, Arrcus also announced that it is extending a “Fast Path” membership for VMware Telco Cloud ecosystem partners seeking to join Arrcus’ PACE partner program. Going forward, certified VMware Telco Cloud partners will be offered an accelerated path to join Arrcus’ PACE program, including instant approval and onboarding. All PACE ecosystem partners enjoy benefits ranging from solution validation, access to technical/training resources and go-to-market support.

“Arrcus is delighted to expand our partnership with VMware targeted at telcos and communications service providers seeking to launch transformative new services that can help them improve their top line,” said Shekar Ayyar, CEO and chairman at Arrcus. “Our partnership with VMware is also significant because it appeals to our mutual ecosystem partners that want to leverage both our platforms.”

Digital Element Enhances Nodify™, Providing Security Teams With Industry Leading Insights Into Criminal VPN Usage

Digital Element | October 03, 2022

Digital Element, the global IP geolocation and audience insights leader, has announced a suite of updates to Nodify™, the industry’s first and most advanced threat intelligence solution designed to help security professionals respond to the recent surge in the VPN market. While other solutions on the market claim to offer VPN usage insights, Nodify is the only offering that provides a granular look into which VPNs are being used across all devices to weed out bad actors and allow legitimate services to continue. As tech providers expand their offerings and provide new safety features to users, Nodify gives organisations an unmatched level of detail around VPN traffic, usage, and intent, enabling cybersecurity teams to understand the level of threat such traffic poses and set policies around that traffic. “With the growing interest in personal privacy on the web, we’ve seen many consumers utilising VPNs for legitimate reasons, but now more and more people are leveraging the anonymity around VPNs to cloak their location and bypass geographic boundaries set by today’s leading service providers, Security professionals need to understand the nuances around VPN usage on their platforms. For example, users who have opted to hide their personal information may not necessarily be trying to torrent illegal data from a remote location. Determining who is granted and denied access depends entirely on the granular data available in Nodify.” Jerrod Stoller, President of Digital Envoy, parent company of Digital Element Following the launch of Nodify in April 2022, Digital Element has introduced a new suite of updates, keeping the product at the forefront of VPN data reporting with the most extensive VPN detection system available. Notable updates include: Higher Frequency: With proxy IPS and VPNs changing rapidly, Nodify data is collected on an hourly basis and provides customers with a daily update on usage. Deeper Insights: Going beyond the generic VPN collection, Nodify provides users with critical insights into the VPN user, including services provided by the VPN provider such as "no logging," "multihop," and "corporate," these fields help clients determine the good vs the bad based on their use case. Ease of Use: Nodify has a User interface that allows clients to quickly get a complete understanding of any VPN provider through a simple web dashboard. “GPS spoofing has become a major pain point for industries ranging from streaming to gaming services. With everything from third-party apps to full-service providers now offering VPN services, it has become harder for providers to delineate what devices should be granted access. Still, accurate identification remains critical to their success,” said Jonathan Tomek, VP of Research and Development at Digital Element. “Because Nodify is API based, we’re able to provide that granular data in the moments that matter the most. Users aren’t limited to just relying on GPS data from a phone that can easily be spoofed.” About Digital Element Digital Element is the global IP geolocation and intelligence leader. In business for more than two decades, the company has unrivalled expertise in leveraging IP address insights to deliver new value to companies in a privacy-sensitive, transparent manner. Leveraged by the world’s most recognised brands, Digital Element provides clients with innovative solutions designed to optimise engagement across industries and applications, creating unique value at every consumer touchpoint. OpsRamp Powers VSO’s Hybrid, Multi-Cloud Management Services

OpsRamp | September 15, 2022

OpsRamp, the digital operations management company, has partnered with Virtual Service Operations (VSO), a leader in hybrid and multi-cloud managed services, to power VSO’s virtual Service Quality Operations Division (vSQOD) Managed Services offering. VSO is using OpsRamp’s digital operations management platform for monitoring and alerting of hybrid and multi-cloud workloads and patching-as-a-service across its customer accounts. VSO manages a variety of technologies, both on-customer-premises and in public cloud environments, all unified in the OpsRamp platform. The OpsRamp multi-tier, multi-tenant SaaS-based platform allows VSO to monitor and manage Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, IBM Cloud, VMware, Kubernetes, and much more from a single pane of glass. “The benefit of OpsRamp is that it goes across all of those different cloud environments and our on-premises footprint as well, We are able to monitor globally, by region, and by customer.” Laura Richardson, Chief Technology Officer of VSO VSO supports multiple environments 24/7 through its vSQOD service, using OpsRamp for alert handling, event correlation and escalation, integrated with Jira Service Management. Improved uptime, greater resiliency and security, and lower operational costs are all benefits customers have enjoyed from working with VSO, powered by OpsRamp. “It all starts in OpsRamp,” said Richardson. “We use OpsRamp as a clearinghouse for alerts, then after event correlation it feeds Jira with actionable tickets. We can quiet the noise so the tickets that hit Jira get immediate focus.” More than 60% of the vSQOD are veterans of the US Armed Forces. VSO founders Steve O’Keefe and John Birch launched the company at the start of 2018 with a veteran-centric mission propelled by their past experience working with highly-trained and adaptable service members. While some of vSQOD’s hires come to the firm with subject matter expertise in IT that they gained in the military, VSO offers transitioning service members with an interest in tech the opportunity to train with Skillbridge before separation from the armed forces. They can then advance their technical training through internal skill-mapping or partnership courses once in the field. “We hire veterans, train them in teams and deploy them in teams,” said Richardson. “More than 200,000 people exit the military each year, after having spent years in one or more of the US military’s 4000 schools. It’s a great pool of talent to draw from. Veterans work well in teams, have excellent leadership qualities, and thrive as IT professionals. VSO’s Managed Services are outstanding because of them.” “OpsRamp is honored to be the IT operations management platform of choice for VSO and support its mission of hiring and training veterans for careers in IT,” said Jim Lampert, vice president of global strategic accounts at OpsRamp. “OpsRamp helps MSPs to grow their business, improve customer outcomes and reduce operational costs.” VSO is one of several recent customer success stories OpsRamp has announced in the MSP space including: Liquid IT: Reduced alert noise by 95% resulting in lower mean time to detect and resolve incidents and increased service availability. Pinnacle Technology Partners: Reduced alert floods so they now only have to respond to critical events, allowing them to reduce mean time to repair, and automate high-volume, time-consuming IT operations tasks. WinWire: Reduced event noise by 90%, automated 70% of routine IT operations tasks and managed the same number of clients with 50% less staff effort. About OpsRamp: OpsRamp is a digital operations management software company whose SaaS platform is used by managed service providers and enterprise IT teams to monitor and manage their cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Key capabilities of the OpsRamp platform include hybrid infrastructure discovery and monitoring, event and incident management, and remediation and automation, all of which are powered by artificial intelligence. About VSO: Virtual Service Operations is a U.S.-based Managed Services and Engineering firm for infrastructure, cloud, and hybrid environments. Its military veteran workforce provides reliable, secure, and cost-effective solutions for companies in need of a flexible, affordable approach to hybrid architecture and data management.

RealVNC Acquires RPort Remote Management Software

RealVNC | October 28, 2022

RealVNC, the most secure remote access solution on the market, acquired RPort, a remote management software that immediately boosts the efficiency of IT teams and managed service providers (MSPs). The acquisition will enable RealVNC to branch out beyond graphical screen sharing and into remote management. RPort enables users to manage their entire infrastructure via a web browser, the command line, or programmatically through a REST API. This includes inventory management, dynamic device grouping, remote and scheduled script execution, device telemetry and flexible connectivity management. For example, a bulk update task targeted at 20 Windows devices could take up to 2 hours when executed individually in interactive screen sharing sessions. The same task could be achieved with RPort technology in less than 2 minutes. The technology is highly complementary to RealVNC’s VNC Connect and will be integrated as an add-on for existing RealVNC subscribers in early 2023. It will also be provided as a standalone subscription under RealVNC's brand. RealVNC will support flexible deployment options, similar to its current offering with VNC Connect, launching with both on-premise and fully-managed/hosted offerings. With this acquisition, RealVNC will soon offer a comprehensive IoT device management platform to their customers. One of the largest challenges IT and field service professionals face is managing large fleets of devices deployed across the globe. When combined with RPort technology, RealVNC will help them master the unique challenges that arise in these environments — for example, when a user managing thousands of devices needs to execute a remote script on all of them programmatically without logging into each device. “We are excited about the immense opportunities that RPort brings to RealVNC and its customers, There are some really exciting plans in the works thanks to RPort’s technology and we cannot wait to bring them to market in the early part of 2023.” Adam Greenwood-Byrne, CEO of RealVNC RealVNC also announced that RPort's creator & innovator, Thorsten Kramm, will be joining the team full-time as VP Software Incubator and will be responsible for leading the company’s IoT program. “I am thrilled to be joining a team so focused on the future of efficient remote management of all kinds of devices. The exponentially increasing numbers of connected devices demand new methods of management beyond access via interactive, one-to-one screen sharing,” said Thorsten Kramm. RPort is currently open source, and RealVNC is committing to continue to pursue an open-core approach. RealVNC will offer more advanced features as paid "plugins” added to the foundational RPort engine, which will remain open source. Current RPort users can expect updates to the open source core along with options to extend it into a commercial product, all with the level of professional technical support that RealVNC has become known for. ABOUT REALVNC RealVNC’s secure remote access and management software is used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Their software helps organizations to cut costs and improve the experience when supporting remote devices and applications, as well as enabling a generation of remote workers. RealVNC is the UK-based, original inventor of VNC remote access software and the associated RFB protocol, and they support an unrivaled mix of desktop, mobile, and embedded platforms. ABOUT RPORT RPort is an open-source remote access and remote management solution that facilitates the management of remote servers without the hassle of VPNs, chained SSH connections, jump-hosts, or the use of commercial tools like TeamViewer and its clones. RPort is a server/client architecture that establishes permanent or on-demand secure tunnels to devices inside protected intranets behind a strong firewall. All operating systems provide well-established mechanisms for remote management – the most widely used being SSH and Remote Desktop. RPort secures them and makes them more easily accessible from the outside. The technology also provides efficient remote management through command execution, task scheduling, scripting and device monitoring. All actions can be performed from a web browser, and on many machines in parallel without any interactive logins.
