Bringing real-time data to the API economy with data virtualization

Information Management | November 19, 2019

An application programming interface strategy lies at the heart of most companies’ digital transformations, no matter the industry or the size. APIs are the common connection points enabling applications to build on, extend, and work with each other. By exposing data beyond enterprise borders to partner companies, organizations can also take part in a growing, interconnected web of applications and a teeming ecosystem of development. Most API initiatives are supported by an API management platform (sometimes also called API gateways). Among other functionalities, these platforms enable organizations to monetize their APIs, to manage connectivity and workloads, to monitor their usage, and to establish security policies.

Major Security Flaws Observed Zyxel VPN

Zyxel | January 05, 2021

At least a hundred thousand Zyxel devices have been delivered with a hardcoded admin-level backdoor account - a security bargain of the most noteworthy seriousness. The vulnerability, later affirmed by the company itself, was first spotted by cybersecurity researchers from Eye Control. According to their report, the hardcoded account can be utilized to gain root access to many of Zyxel's devices, some of which are utilized by ventures at the edge of their organizations. These incorporate firewalls, VPN gateways, and access point regulators. According to Eye Control, the account had root access to the gadget because it was being utilized to install firmware updates to other interconnected Zyxel devices through FTP. Whenever bargained, the affected devices could be utilized by criminals to launch DDoS attacks and ransomware operations, or as a venturing stone to facilitate more perplexing cyberattacks. Zyxel has already given patches for the Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) arrangements, Unified Security Gateway (USG) arrangement, USG Flex, and VPN arrangement, with a patch for the WLAN access point regulator NXC arrangement coming in April. Clients are advised to install the relevant patches, which eliminate the backdoor account. About Zyxel Focused on innovation and customer-centricity, Zyxel has been connecting people to the internet for nearly 30 years. We keep promoting creativity which meets the needs of customers. This spirit has never been changed since we developed the world’s first integrated 3-in-1 data/fax/voice modem in 1992. Infortrend Powers Up Scale-Out Unified Storage EonStor GS U.2

Infortrend | May 31, 2022

Infortrend Technology, Inc., a market-leading enterprise storage supplier, has enhanced EonStor GS U.2, an enterprise scale-out unified storage system with U.2 NVMe SSD. It provides block and file-level scale-out extensibility to boost capacity and performance as storage requirements rise. The EonStor GS (GS) unified SAN/NAS storage is intended for a variety of corporate applications such as database, virtualization, video post-production, and file sharing. It provides excellent capacity and performance in a variety of ways. Users can begin with one GS and add other GS as required to establish a cluster with up to four appliances through scale-out. GS supports the common ultra-fast U.2 SSD and boosts performance up to 1000K IOPS and 22GB/s per appliance to improve data processing with high IOPS and low latency. GS offers a single namespace for CIFS and NFS user access from Windows, Linux, and macOS. IT administration can be simplified even further with auto-balancing, which ensures that data is stored equitably on each GS in a cluster. IT personnel may save money by expanding all-flash U.2 GS with HDD JBOD and letting the auto-tiering technology move 'hot' and 'cold' data between high-performance SSD and cost-effective HDD. For forward-looking enterprises seeking a competitive and cost-saving solution, we updated GS unified storage with support of scale-out expandability and U.2 SSD. Users can connect several GS into a cluster with optimized load balancing, increased I/Os, and tight data protection." Frank Lee, Senior Director of Product Planning Infortrend has revamped its 2022 Reseller Partnership Program to assist partners in increasing expertise and profitability. Partners enjoy special benefits like deal registration with price protection, access to demo machines, and much more.

VMware Collaborates with German Universities on Automating Life; VMware’s Path to 6G

VMware | March 08, 2022

VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a leading innovator in enterprise software, today unravelled its vision for Automating Life. The vision is underpinned by the fusion of cloud, networking and AI technologies and a belief system structured around equity, sustainability and trust. To chart a successful course to 6G, the evolution of these underlying technologies must align with the evolutionary cycle of human behavior, society, and technology as they influence each other to form an evolution continuum. “This evolution continuum — the way people change, technology evolves, and society responds — is how VMware aims to shape its path to 6G — by promoting technologies centered around human needs, e.g., that improves and saves lives, but more importantly, enable humans to grow in and with technology in the way people want — not the way technology dictates,” said Kaniz Mahdi, vice president of distributed edge, VMware. “We are delighted to support Professor Fitzek and Professor Falko on their mission to shape the future of wireless with human-centric technologies.” Under the direction of Professor Frank Fitzek at TU Dresden, the Centre for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop (CeTI) and the 6G-life hub are working to enable humans to interact in quasi real-time with cyber-physical-systems in the physical or digital world over intelligent communications networks (5G and beyond). Enabling this type of interaction will promote equitable access to remote environments for people of different genders, ages, cultural backgrounds, or physical limitations. It also has the potential to democratize access to skills and expertise as well as its cutting-edge research for sustainability, security, resilience, and latency. We’re thrilled to be working with VMware to further the research and innovations that are playing a significant role in the path to 6G. We started 6G-life to provide new approaches for sustainability, security, resiliency and latency. This collaboration will help us advance our leading work in specific areas such as the Tactile Internet in the Cluster of Excellence CeTI, 5G communications networks, quantum communication and artificial intelligence methods.” Frank Fitzek, professor and head of the Deutsche Telekom Chair of Communication Networks at TU Dresden.
