Virtualization is impacting telecom networks from greenfield, to brownfield, and even cable companies are getting in on the action. The topic will be discussed Tuesday, July 21, during FierceWireless’ Summer 5G Blitz Week. Intel has been working on network virtualization from the very beginning when it began collaborating with service providers that were interested in software-defined networking and network functions virtualization. General purpose servers based on Intel’s x86 processors provided the hardware to run the SDN and NFV software.
