Orchid’s decentralized VPN will price bandwidth using Chainlink

Orchid | June 16, 2020

Chainlink is making it easier to get onboard with decentralized VPNs. Orchid announced today the launch of a new pricing oracle to help users understand the dollar denominated cost of purchasing bandwidth on the Orchid decentralized VPN. A VPN allows users to connect to the Internet using a connection provided in a different physical location. It’s another example of the versatility of the Chainlink protocol, and shows how the decentralized oracle platform can be applied to a variety of different use cases.

ZEDEDA Delivers Edge Solution for Better Uptime in Smart Buildings

ZEDEDA | January 03, 2023

ZEDEDA, a company that provides edge orchestration solutions, has announced that it has delivered a scalable edge solution for Switch Automation, a global technology company that provides digital building solutions. Based on the Zededa Edge Orchestration Platform, the scalable edge solution lets Switch Automation manage distributed devices securely on a global scale. Switch's smart building platform integrates with traditional building systems and internet of things (IoT) technologies to analyze, automate, and control assets in real time. However, during early deployments, Switch encountered scalability issues with hundreds of appliances. To address this problem, Switch turned to Zededa's edge orchestration platform. "Improving operational management and deployment consistency were the top priorities for us. We had a few hundred IoT appliances connected when we started working with ZEDEDA, but it was challenging for us to envision scalability for the future. Now with ZEDEDA’s edge management and orchestration solution, we don’t need to worry about limitations." - Peter Rake, chief product officer at Switch Automation ZEDEDA provided solutions and technical expertise for managing Switch's edge devices, including the operating system, edge applications, and network, and delivered a stable network device to allow Switch to achieve high uptime and a more robust support infrastructure. As a result, Switch was able to successfully scale up their operations to thousands of appliances and improve overall network performance. By using ZEDEDA's edge orchestration platform, Switch was able to solve problems with scalability and get a better infrastructure, which helped them grow their business. As a result of using ZEDEDA's solution, Switch has been able to reduce its maintenance hours and lower its operational costs. ZEDEDA ensures extensibility and flexibility by leveraging an open partner ecosystem with a robust app marketplace and a Linux Foundation open architecture. ZEDEDA is in charge of thousands of nodes and has teams in the United States, Germany, and India. Some of the best investors in the world have backed it. About ZEDEDA ZEDEDA simplifies, opens up, and secures edge computing, bringing the cloud experience to the edge. The ZEDEDA platform lowers the cost of managing and orchestrating distributed edge infrastructure and applications while increasing visibility, security, and control. ZEDEDA provides a distributed, cloud-native edge management and orchestration solution that simplifies the security and remote management of large-scale edge infrastructure and applications.

Mirantis OpenStack for Kubernetes Sees 10x Increase in Virtual Machine Deployment Launches New Release

Mirantis | January 13, 2023

Mirantis has announced that its Mirantis OpenStack for Kubernetes (MOSK) has seen virtual machines deployed on its infrastructure increase more than 10 times the previous year. The latest release of MOSK 22.5 includes full support for OpenStack Yoga, shared file system-as-a-service using OpenStack Manila to support legacy workloads, and easy integration with monitoring systems to provide data on the state of cloud resources. MOSK makes it possible for cloud-native and traditional applications to use digital infrastructure. This makes sure that applications are reliable and gives users full control over application data. MOSK offers centralized logging, monitoring, and alerting, as well as tools to automate management of the infrastructure underneath, from setting up hardware to configuring software. Artem Andreev, product manager, Mirantis OpenStack for Kubernetes commented, “The significant growth we’ve seen of VM deployment on MOSK in 2022 serves, yet again, as proof that OpenStack is still a relevant and important infrastructure for virtualized workloads at enterprises and service providers.” He further said, “MOSK hardens the open source OpenStack as the basis for mission-critical operations, removing the typical challenges of OpenStack cluster deployment and operations with an easy-to-use virtualization platform – containerized and optimally-configured for Kubernetes. (Source: Businesswire) About Mirantis Mirantis helps companies ship code faster on both public and private clouds. This makes developers more productive because they don't have to worry about managing infrastructure. The company takes a ZeroOps approach to managing and running Kubernetes and cloud environments by using intelligent automation and cloud-native skills. Mirantis provides a public cloud experience on any infrastructure, from the data center to the edge, with a single cloud experience for complete app and DevOps portability, a single pane of glass, and automated full-stack lifecycle management, all based on open source. Mirantis works with some of the biggest companies in the world, like Adobe, DocuSign, Inmarsat, Nationwide Insurance, PayPal, Reliance Jio, Societe Generale, Splunk, and S&P Global.
