Polte and VMware To Unlock 5G Precise Positioning for Open Radio Access Networks

Polte | October 08, 2021

Polte, the innovator of Cloud Location over Cellular (C-LoC) technology, announced a partnership with VMware to enable an Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) solution for global "5G Precise Positioning," leveraging Polte as an xApp on VMware's RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) platform. This partnership aims to address the challenges of security, accuracy, and seamless cellular continuity that previously created barriers to access for 5G Precise Positioning within use cases ranging from Industry 4.0 to 5G Critical IoT. Together, through the augmentation of Open RAN architecture, Polte and VMware endeavor to stimulate innovation while subsequently offering systems integrators more RAN vendor choice.

"Together, Polte's and VMware's 5G Precise Positioning solution aims to meet the increasing demands for enterprise security while providing accuracy down to the sub-meter level with private networks, We plan to unlock a plethora of new global asset tracking use cases, especially within 5G Industrial and Critical IoT."

said Stephen Spellicy, vice president of product marketing and business development, Service Provider and Edge, VMware.

The RIC, as introduced by the O-RAN Alliance, is a core element of Open RAN architecture that allows operators to launch and optimize new cloud-native services and xApps, uninterrupted. VMware's RIC offers a software development kit (SDK) for third parties to develop new innovative applications for Open RAN, and enables operators to seamlessly integrate such applications into their networks. It will enable Polte's location xApp to not only democratize 5G Precise Positioning, but offer a foundation for other xApps that benefit from location awareness.

"Solutions providers should think of location as a system, not a feature. Taking a holistic approach to location at the earliest stages of any 5G deployment is fundamental to the success of offering value in 5G to enterprises."

said Polte CEO Ed Chao.

As a leading provider of cellular location, Polte's domain expertise and 70 global patents and patents pending are key to unlocking the full potential of 5G positioning for enterprises. 5G allows Polte to transform the utility of cellular location, bringing the optimum level of accuracy for macro networks and 5G private networks. Polte's and VMware's Open RAN RIC-based 5G Precise Positioning solution will provide enterprises with more secure communication to all devices and to their own cloud architecture, required for the most advanced, mission-critical communications.

Polte and VMware are both contributing members of the O-RAN Alliance, as well as participants in the 5G Open Innovation Lab, a collaborative ecosystem bringing together leading enterprise partners with cutting-edge startups harnessing the power and potential of 5G and edge computing to build what's next.

Delinea Platform Debuts in Secret Server for PAM Unification

Delinea | March 15, 2023

On March 14, 2023, Delinea Platform, a cloud-native platform for Delinea's well-known PAM solutions, enabled dynamic permission controls, end-to-end visibility, and adaptive security. Delinea Platform supports the latest version of Secret Server, its winning vault solution. It also supports a secure remote access service for suppliers and remote workers that doesn't require a VPN, as well as a rich environment for integration across the Delinea marketplace. According to the Identity Defined Security Alliance study, 84% of firms had an identity-related breach last year. Gartner predicts that enterprises that deploy cybersecurity mesh architectures will cut security incident costs by 90% by 2024. By implementing a privileged access management platform as part of their cybersecurity mesh strategy, enterprises are able to move away from multiple-point solutions. This results in improved visibility, security, and efficiency across the organization. Delinea Platform enables streamlined authorization for all identities, restricting access to an organization's critical hybrid cloud infrastructure and sensitive data. This simplified security approach helps minimize risk and ensure compliance with industry regulations. The growing number of siloed security products and the exponential expansion of human and machine identities with privileges make the management of privileged access difficult. As Delinea Platform adds more features, businesses will be able to manage authorization for all types of identities from a single location, which will improve efficiency and security. With analytics-based access controls and adaptive privilege automation in IT infrastructure, future updates to Delinea Platform will make sure that security stays consistent. This will ensure that identities get the right access at the right time with the authorized permissions. Phil Calvin, Chief Product Officer at Delinea, stated, "The Delinea Platform will revolutionize the market by unifying and extending Privileged Access Management, dramatically reducing risk from the most common thread across all cyberattacks – compromised identities." He added, "We are excited to take this first step by unifying the critical and core PAM capabilities on the Delinea Platform to provide world-class usability, seamless security, and simplified pricing that will accelerate adoption for our customers." (Source – CISION PR Newswire) About Delinea Delinea, an upcoming enterprise, is a significant provider of privileged access management (PAM) solutions for modern and hybrid organizations. Delinea Platform effortlessly extends PAM by authorizing all identities, limiting access to an organization's most crucial hybrid cloud infrastructure and sensitive data, reducing risk, ensuring compliance, and making security easier. The company simplifies and limits access for thousands of clients globally. Its customer base includes small enterprises as well as large-scale financial institutions, intelligence agencies, and companies involved in constructing and maintaining critical infrastructure.

Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Sensors Launches on T and X Series ThinkPad Laptops

Elliptic Labs | February 27, 2023

Today, Elliptic Labs, the industry leader in AI Virtual Smart Sensors, announced the launch of 100% software-only AI Virtual Human Presence Sensor on numerous Lenovo ThinkPad X and T Series laptops. This launch includes the Lenovo ThinkPad T14s, T14, T16 Gen 4, X13 Yoga Gen 4 and X13 Gen 4,. The X13 Yoga Gen 4 will run Intel exclusively, while the other laptops will use the latest Intel and AMD chipsets (both AMD and Intel are Elliptic Labs’ partners). Laila Danielsen, CEO of Elliptic Labs, said, “We are excited that Lenovo is using our 100% software-based AI Virtual Human Presence Sensors broadly across so many of their laptop models. This significant launch is further proof of the scalability, power, and value of our AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform. She added, “Our extensive deployment of the AI software platform is advancing us towards our vision of making all devices to become smarter, more user-friendly, and environmentally sustainable.” (Source – Businesswire) Elliptic Labs' AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform uses small footprint machine learning networks, ultrasound, and sensor fusion to create AI Virtual Smart Sensors providing high-performing, frictionless user experiences at scale. Its launch shows that the largest PC manufacturers are validating and choosing the AI Virtual Human Presence Sensors. Elliptic Labs' AI Virtual Human Presence Sensor recognizes a PC/laptop user in front of it. This enables the gadget sleep, in absence of a user, saving power, and thus preventing unauthorized access. Human presence detection is becoming a core component in the PC/laptop market; however only high-end systems have dedicated hardware presence sensors due to risk, cost, and design limits. Elliptic Labs' software-only AI Virtual Human Presence Sensor provides robust human-presence detection that OEMs can simply and economically integrate into a wide range of devices. About Elliptic Labs Elliptic Labs, founded in 2006, creates AI Virtual Smart Sensors that identify people and their surroundings. It targets smartphones, computers, IoT, and automobiles worldwide.
