Promevo and Cameyo have partnered to help organizations deliver a seamless and secure Google-based digital workspace that enables productivity from anywhere. The partnership brings together Cameyo's Chrome Enterprise Recommended Virtual App Delivery (VAD) platform, Google Cloud, ChromeOS, Google Workspace, and Promevo's gPanel® workspace user management platform for an end-to-end digital workspace solution without vendor lock-in. This enables organizations to select which pieces of the Google ecosystem they need while maintaining the flexibility to run in any cloud, hybrid, or on-premises environment.

"Especially in this economic environment, there is very little appetite for vendor lock-in as organizations roll out their long-term digital workspace strategies," said Gabe Knuth, Senior EUC Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). "Both Cameyo and Promevo are long-time Google partners and have deep integration with the Google technology stack - but, like Google, they are focused on meeting organizations where they are today rather than requiring they go all in on a particular vendor, cloud, or operating system."

Through this partnership, Promevo has added Cameyo's cloud desktop solution to its portfolio of services. As a result, Promevo clients can utilize any of the following solutions to match their needs:

  • ChromeOS Devices
  • Google Workspace
  • Google Cloud
  • Cameyo Virtual App Delivery (VAD) - Cameyo is the Chrome Enterprise Recommended virtualization solution that enables organizations to give their people access to all of their needed apps - Windows, Linux, SaaS, and internal web apps - from any device, without virtual desktops or VPNs. Cameyo is deeply integrated with Google, including:
  • ChromeOS - Cameyo enables any app to be delivered to ChromeOS devices as PWAs.
  • Google Cloud - Cameyo's fully-hosted solution runs in Google Cloud, or organizations can self-host Cameyo on-premises or in the cloud of their choice.
  • Google Workspace - Cameyo enables organizations using Google Workspace to access all remaining legacy apps side-by-side with Google Workspace apps.
  • Promevo gPanel® - gPanel® is a centralized user management and security interface that automates many common admin tasks and provides visibility and complete control over Google Workspace users' data and settings.

"We believe that by harnessing the capabilities of Google, organizations in any industry can accelerate growth," said Karthik Kripapuri, CEO at Promevo. "Cameyo's virtual app delivery solution is so integrated into the Google ecosystem that it feels like a native product, providing a user experience that enables productivity from anywhere."

VergeIO Unveils IOclone To Solve the VM Snapshot Problem

VergeIO | April 26, 2023

VergeIO, the Ultraconverged Infrastructure (UCI) company, today announced the launch of IOclone, a new solution that solves the virtualization snapshot problem facing users today. VMware and other virtualized environments suffer from highly inefficient snapshots and because of performance concerns, customers can only maintain a few active snapshots. This level of retention is insufficient for adequate data protection. With IOclone, customers can now leverage the built-in global data deduplication capabilities of VergeOS to create complete clones of virtual machines (VM) within milliseconds, regardless of VM size. Each clone is immutable and space efficient, initially consuming no additional capacity. Hypervisors without the powerful capabilities of IOclone require customers to use expensive array-based snapshots or integrate with backup software solutions, forcing customers into an expensive and complicated multi-step solution for data protection. By comparison, IOclone is a single-step process tightly integrated into VergeOS. Once IT sets up a cloning policy, snapshots happen regularly without administrative intervention. Now customers can create and maintain thousands of space-efficient copies of virtual machines or even virtual data centers without impacting performance. Both the original production instance and clones perform at the full performance of the infrastructure. Clones are instantly available for use in testing, QA, and development purposes, or customers can create "golden masters" and spawn hundreds or even thousands of VMs or virtual data centers (VDCs) from the original, again without impacting performance. "Both clones and snapshots typically have some overhead in the capacity they consume and the processing required to use them. Clones typically have to make a copy of all of the metadata information, which means the cloning process takes some time upfront, but then they are ready to use and independent. Snapshots trade up front processing time and instead show performance degradation when in use or during clean-up," said Greg Campbell, VergeIO founder and CTO. "IOclone delivers the best of both. Because our deduplication is part of the metadata in our filesystem, we get all the performance and independence benefits of cloning without their upfront overhead.” Customers can execute IOclone on the virtual machine, the volume, or an entire virtual data center (VDC). In the same way that a virtual machine is an encapsulation of a server, a VDC clone is an encapsulation of the entire data center. It includes all the VMs within the data center and all the storage and networking policies, delivering near-instant recovery. IOclone does not require specialized storage controllers or storage data processing units. Thanks to the efficiency of VergeOS, it works with off-the-shelf servers using commodity flash and hard disk drives within the VergeOS environment. It is integrated into VergeOS and is available now at no additional charge to VergeOS customers. Customers looking to migrate off VMware can leverage VergeIO's IOprotect and benefit from the immutable limitless protection of IOclone. About VergeIO VergeIO is the Ultraconverged Infrastructure (UCI) company. Unlike hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), it rotates the traditional IT stack (compute, storage, and networking) into an integrated data center operating system, VergeOS. Its efficiency enables greater workload density on the same hardware with high levels of data resiliency. The result is dramatically lower costs and greatly simplified IT.

OpenVPN Introduces DIVE: Device Identity Verification & Enforcement

Businesswire | May 11, 2023

OpenVPN is proud to introduce Device Identity Verification & Enforcement (DIVE) to their cloud-based solution, CloudConnexa™ (previously known as OpenVPN Cloud). This powerful new feature will take your ZTNA structure to the next level. With the rapid growth of remote and hybrid workforces, providing secure access from a mix of BYOD and corporate-owned devices has become a critical component of ZTNA. DIVE on CloudConnexa gives Administrators the power to leverage one of the key principles of ZTNA — least privilege — granting access only to the resources a user should have, exclusively from the devices they are authorized to use. "The growth of remote workforces and the rise in mobile devices accessing company networks makes providing the appropriate access based on user and device identity a critical component of ZTNA," says Francis Dinha, CEO of OpenVPN. "The DIVE feature on Cloud Connexa makes it easy for admins to verify device identities before granting network access." DIVE boosts the ZTNA essentials Cloud Connexa already provides — hiding your applications from public view, using digital certificates for users and devices — by giving Admins the option to manually add authorized device identities (UUID) as well as lock digital certificates, automatically, to specific devices. A user trying to access the network with an alternate device, even with an authorized connection profile, will be blocked. By limiting authenticated user access to trusted devices with unique device identities, DIVE minimizes your attack surface and reduces the risk of unauthorized network access when you use Cloud Connexa. "Even if an authorized always-on IoT device's connection profile is compromised,” explains Dinha, “a bad actor will be unable to connect using the stolen profile. This additional layer of security is invaluable to IoT network security.” With DIVE on Cloud Connexa, admins can finally build ZTNA using defined access control policies for users and devices. This means organizations now have more power than ever to strengthen their security posture, reduce their attack surface, and make sure their network is truly secure. About OpenVPN, Inc. Unlike older approaches that require a mixed bag of networking and security products, CloudConnexa from OpenVPN consists of a simplified, cloud-delivered service for a fraction of the cost. And if you prefer a self-hosted solution, Access Server gives you complete control over the solution’s deployment, configuration, and management.
