Verizon Business today announced VNS Application Edge, a solution that allows enterprises to extend the Virtual Network Services capabilities and now deploy business applications to the edge, along with a Kubernetes managed service delivered through a simple digital experience. VNS Application Edge, built in collaboration with Rafay Systems Inc., is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering that provides a turnkey automation framework for managing Kubernetes clusters and containerized app deployment. Verizon will now deliver a unified experience for both network and containerized application lifecycle management, using a single orchestrated platform and end-to-end service management.

Co-processors like graphics processing units (GPUs) are typically trapped in individual workstations or servers and often underutilized, sometimes at less than 15% of capacity. The Dell EMC Ready Solutions for AI: GPU-as-a-Service deliver two different designs to create virtual GPU pools to make better use of these valuable resources.
The newest design includes the latest VMware vSphere 7 with Bitfusion, which VMware announced today and makes it possible to virtualize GPUs on premises. Factory-installed by Dell’s flexible supply chain, VMware vSphere 7 in combination with Bitfusion lets developers and data scientists pool their powerful IT resources and share them across data centers. This helps increase utilization rates by providing self-service access to the right resource for the right workload at the right time.

IBM is ending support for IBM Cloud Virtual Servers for VPC on Power in 80 days.
As of June 2, new instances of VPC on Power will no longer be able to be provisioned, but existing ones will still exist - until August 22, 2020.
IBM Cloud Power offerings have struggled, launching later than planned, and not expanding beyond a single Dallas data center for years.
The company suggested users shift from the virtual private cloud service to IBM Power Systems Virtual Servers, but the alternative will not support Linux until an unidentified date later this year. Instead, it supports the less popular and proprietary AIX and IBM i operating systems.
As of June 2, new instances of VPC on Power will no longer be able to be provisioned, but existing ones will still exist - until August 22, 2020, when all instances will be deleted. "Please extract data that is still desired as soon as possible,
The Power Systems Virtual Servers offering also does not support GPUs like VPC does. IBM suggests using on-premises Power and GPU combinations, or shifting to using IBM's x86-based cloud service that supports some Nvidia GPUs - although that won't be very helpful for code built for the Power architecture.
