NSX-V to NSX-T Migration - NSX-V Load Balancer (HA-Proxy) Migration to AVI

This presentation and demo will include the migration of NSX-V Native Load Balancer (HA-Proxy) to AVI. The migration will include the migration of Load Balancer configurations including Virtual Servers, Server Pool, Pool Members, Application Profiles, and Services (Protocol/Port). cITopus, NSX Automation and Management tool, will be used for this demonstration. cITopus AVI Deployment Utility automatically deploys and configures AVI Controllers, and Service engines. cITopus also configures the Service Engines with NSX-T routers to build One-Armed load balancer topology. cITopus also migrates NSX-V load balancer configurations to AVI.

The virtual machine abstraction provides a wide variety of benefits which have undeniably enabled cloud computing. Virtual machines, however, are a doubleedged sword as hypervisors they run on top of must treat them as a black box, limiting the information which the hypervisor and virtual machine may exchange, a problem known as the semantic gap. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a new mechanism, hyperupcalls, which enables a hypervisor to safely execute verified code provided by a guest virtual machine in order to transfer information.

NSX-V to NSX-T Migration - In-Place Network Virtualization

NSX-V to NSX-T Migration - No Downtime

This presentation and demo will include explanation and demonstration of virtual machine migration from NSX-V to NSX-T without any downtime of the VMs. cITopus VM Migration Utility will be demonstrated for live migration of VMs from NSX-V to NSX-T. Such operation is possible using an NSX-T Bridge, which can be deployed into NSX-V using a point-n-click wizard from cITopus. When virtual machines are migrated along with the Gateway, the VMs will experience a small outage (usually less than 15 seconds) for the gateway switchover from NSX-V to NSX-T. cITopus VM Migration Utility creates everything that the virtual machines need, including segments, ateways, micro-segmentation, vCenter Tags, Temporary IPSETs and Groups in source and destination to minimize downtime and eliminate manual tasks. The presentation will also include content on migrating virtual machines live from on-premises environments to cloud environments i.e. VMC and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

This session will also include a demonstration of scheduling propagation from NSX-V to NSX-T using cITopus.
