From The Age Of Computing To The Age Of Data: Are You Ready?

The digital economy has been an engine of growth for the United States over the past decade. The digital sector grew an average of 5.6% annually between 2005 and 2016, even though the economy as a whole grew only 1.5%. Much of that growth was fueled by cloud computing, which enabled new business models and boosted efficiency.But the cloud is evolving. Until recently, the focus has been on infrastructure and applications, or IaaS and SaaS. But there's a new game in town now that requires a similar amount of board-level focus: data. If computing over the last decade became a utility, data will have to do the same over the next decade. We've entered the age of data as a service. Like computing before it, data must now be made available where and when it's needed without the usual delays that come with project approvals, purchasing and IT requests.
