5G is not just the next evolution of 4G technology; it's a paradigm shift. It is expected to enable fundamentally new applications — with much more stringent requirements in latency and bandwidth — and provide resiliency and flexibility to the underlying network. Several standards organizations and forums, namely IEEE, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project, and the International Telecommunication Union, are working on defining the architecture and standardizing aspects of 5G technologies. However, few organizations are focusing on how such technologies can be useful to tactical and first responder networks.
IEEE is hosting the fourth workshop in this series on 14 December 2021. It is the result of partnership and collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T, the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab (JHU/APL), and the Office of Under Secretary of Defense for research and Engineering (OUSD R&E) - 5G. This workshop will explore the applicability of 5G technologies for tactical and first responder networks, offer solutions, share use cases, and investigate research opportunities and challenges. The event will also provide an opportunity for 5G experts from industry and academia, as well as the standards, regulatory, homeland security, public safety and defense communities, to collaborate.

With the increasing focus on modelling and simulation in the fields of cyber-networks, data mining, cyber security, distributed computing, mobile computing, cognitive computing, cloud computing, computing tools, applications, simulation tools, system performance and data and computer communications the demand for high quality research outcomes has never been greater. ITNAC has been the forum for researchers and engineers to present and discuss topics related to advanced computing and data communication network technologies, services and applications. Novel contributions are presented in the form of keynote speeches by international experts, peer-reviewed technical papers, and posters. ITNAC 2021 is an international conference and forum for the presentation of research outcomes covering timely and relevant aspects concerning modelling and simulation of distributed, mobile, cognitive and cloud computing, computer and data communications, local and metropolitan networks, optical, wired and wireless telecommunication networks and applications. Advances in optical communications, hybrid networks, and the utilization of new and innovative approaches to make networks more reliable and resilient has continued. The goal of this track is to provide a forum for the presentation of new advances, ideas, and solutions from theoretical, experimental, and applied research to address specific new challenges and emerging issues concerned with this field. We seek papers describing original, previously unpublished research results.
