On February 7, 2023, Azul, the only 100% Java-focused firm, announced that its high-performance Java runtime, Azul Platform Prime, now supports 64-bit Arm architectures, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) Graviton-based Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances. This combination enables clients to reduce cloud costs while improving the performance of popular open-source technologies, cloud-native apps, and Java-based frameworks.

Azul delivers more than 20 years of Java market leadership and supports more Java versions than any other vendor, including Oracle. Azul has long been a driving force behind Java support for developing hardware architectures, including spearheading the OpenJDK community effort (JEP 391) to enable support for Apple Silicon Arm-based Macs, and now supports AWS Graviton2 and Graviton3 processors for cloud deployments.

Azul is extending its leadership with cloud-native Java runtimes that support 64-bit Arm architectures by offering the finest Java Virtual Machine (JVM) for AWS Graviton processors with Azul Platform Prime and has received service validation from AWS Graviton Ready Program. In addition, Azul's rigorous testing shows that Azul Platform Prime performs substantially faster than competing OpenJDK alternatives. Azul Platform Prime running on AWS Graviton2 and AWS Graviton3 processors, provide improved price performance and scale required for cloud workloads.

Arm platforms are becoming increasingly popular because of their low cost-performance ratio. According to Gartner®, "By 2025, Arm-based shipments will account for around 20% of worldwide (except China) infrastructure as a services (IaaS) capabilities, and 55% of platform as a services (PaaS) capability."
