Intel launches new Xeon Scalable processors with eye on NFV

Rajesh Dhar, senior director - Hybrid IT, Hewlett Packard Enterprise said that his company would refresh its entire range of products in the next 2-3 months with the new technologies from Intel. TYAN has announced support for 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with their full line of HPC, cloud computing and storage server platforms for enterprises, cloud and hyperscale data centers. Intel said the data-centric processors that the firm released represent the most expansive portfolio of Intel Xeon processors in the company's history with more than 50 workload-optimised processors. While it still commands only an extreme minority share of the lucrative data centre market, the company's Epyc processors have been slowly gaining ground against rival Intel's Xeon family - in particular in single-socket systems, where Epyc crams more cores and simultaneous threads than its competition.
