Microsoft Buys Movere To Boost Azure Migrate Service

Microsoft on Wednesday announced the acquisition of partner company Movere. Bellevue, Wash.-based Movere, formerly known as Unified Logic, is an 11-year-old consulting company. It developed an agentless discovery service for optimizing cloud moves, supporting both the Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure cloud platforms. The discovery service can scan at a rate of "1,000 servers per hour," pulling data from Windows or Linux computing environments. Organizations get a dashboard representation of their computing environment, which is then used to improve efficiency and security or plan a cloud migration. Microsoft intends to add Movere's technologies to its own Azure Migrate service, according to Jeremy Winter, partner director for Azure management, in Microsoft's announcement.
