Robin.io and AirHop Announce Strategic Partnership to Modernize Open RAN Solutions for 4G/5G Networks

Robin.io and AirHop Communications announced a strategic partnership to provide solutions that deliver automated improvements in the performance of Open Radio Access Networks (Open RAN) and end-user quality of experience while reducing the costs, complexities and deployment times for Mobile Network Operators (MNO) and Cloud Service Providers (CSP) rolling out 5G and other next-gen networks and services.

By working in close strategic partnership, Robin and AirHop enable the expedited deployment of cloud-native Open RAN in an operationally optimized solution. The AirHop and Robin partnership significantly reduces the development time for systems integrators, MNOs and CSPs by enabling a smooth path to integration and orchestration of self-optimizing Open RAN solutions, which greatly eases the cost and operational effort needed for productization. Robin and AirHop technologies are key enablers for Rakuten Mobile’s 4G/5G network in Japan as well as the Rakuten Communication Platform (RCP) delivering virtualization, standardization, optimization and automation of 5G Open RAN, leading to more cost efficiency, innovation and affordability.

Robin.io core technologies—Multi Cluster Automation Platform (MDCAP), Cloud Native Platform (CNP), and Cloud Native Storage (CNS)—will provide a cloud native infrastructure for onboarding network functions. The technologies also will deliver hyper-automation that orchestrates and manages the lifecycles of bare-metal infrastructures, third-party appliances, Virtual Network Functions (VNFs), Cloud-native Network Functions (CNFs) and services. They deliver these capabilities with built-in logging, monitoring and policy engines, for closed loop automation, managed through a single pane of glass. Robin solutions provide intuitive and declarative interfaces that auto-discover and auto-configure resources for the service’s entire life-cycle, reducing deployment complexity, time-lines and human error.

AirHop provides a suite of real-time network intelligence solutions delivering Radio Access Network (RAN) automation and performance optimization for coverage and capacity, network configuration, mobility optimization and network operations. AirHop’s eSON solution is commercially hardened with large-scale deployments at Reliance Jio and Rakuten Mobile. eSON provides MNOs with deployment flexibility supporting optimization applications for disaggregated vRAN architectures as a pre-standard, near-real-time RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) platform and as xApps/rApps on emerging near real-time and non-real-time RIC platforms based on O-RAN standards. eSON applications optimize performance across Rakuten Mobile’s end-to-end cloud native wireless network for macro cell, small cell and HetNet coverage use cases delivering improved spectral efficiency of the network, resulting in higher throughput and more capacity, reduced operational expenses through automated configuration and issue resolution, and dynamic balancing of user traffic across the network. eSON360 provides AI/ML based rApps across a broad spectrum of target RAN optimization use cases.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Robin on this autonomous network journey. AirHop real-time RAN optimization and Robin.io hyper-automation are driving both horizontal and vertical automation in Rakuten Mobile’s industry leading RCP resulting in operational cost reductions, deployment acceleration and improved performance of Open RAN.”

Yan Hui, CEO of AirHop

“Working together, Robin and Airhop are delivering a platform that telecom operators can successfully deploy across the entire 5G stack on cloud-native infrastructure at scale, including near real-time network automation and performance optimization reducing deployment and operations cost,” said Partha Seetela, CEO and CTO of Robin.io. “The solution enables operators to successfully manage their network functions across thousands of sites and delivers improved spectral efficiency of the network, resulting in higher throughput and more capacity. This announcement reinforces the importance of our Robin partner ecosystem that includes best-of-breed hardware and software technology vendors essential to accelerate the time to value for our telco customers."

Leostream Enhances Security and Management of vSphere Hybrid Cloud Deployments

Business Wire | January 29, 2024

Leostream Corporation, the world's leading Remote Desktop Access Platform provider, today announced features to enhance security, management, and end-user productivity in vSphere-based hybrid cloud environments. The Leostream platform strengthens end-user computing (EUC) capabilities for vSphere users, including secure access to both on-premises and cloud environments, heterogeneous support, and reduced cloud costs. With the Leostream platform as the single pane of glass managing EUC environments, any hosted desktop environment, including individual virtual desktops, multi-user sessions, hosted physical workstations or desktops, and hosted applications, becomes simpler to manage, more secure, more flexible, and more cost-effective. Significant ways the Leostream platform expands vSphere’s capabilities include: Security The Leostream platform ensures data remains locked in the corporate network, and works across on-premises and cloud environments, providing even disparate infrastructures with the same levels of security and command over authorization, control, and access tracking. The Leostream platform supports multi-factor authentication and allows organizations to enforce strict access control rules, creating an EUC environment modeled on a zero-trust architecture. Multivendor/protocol support The Leostream platform was developed from the ground up for heterogeneous infrastructures and as the connection management layer of the EUC environment, the Leostream platform allows organizations to leverage vSphere today and other hypervisors or hyperconvergence platforms in the future as their needs evolve. The Leostream platform supports the industry’s broadest array of remote display protocols, including specialized protocols for mission-critical tasks. Consistent EUC experience The Leostream platform enables IT to make changes to the underlying environment while ensuring the end user experience is constant, and to incorporate AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OpenStack private clouds into their environment without disruptions in end-user productivity. By integrating with corporate Identity Providers (IdPs) that employees are already familiar with, and providing employees with a single portal they use to sign in, the Leostream platform offers simplicity to users too. Connectivity The Leostream Gateway securely connects to on-prem and cloud resources without virtual private networks (VPNs), and eliminates the need to manage and maintain security groups. End users get the same seamless login and high-performance connection across hybrid environments including corporate resources located off the internet. Controlling cloud costs The Leostream Connection Broker implements automated rules that control capacity and power state in the cloud, allowing organizations to optimize their cloud usage and minimize costs, such as ensuring cloud instances aren’t left running when they are no longer needed. The Connection Broker also intelligently pools and shares resources across groups of users, so organizations can invest in fewer systems, reducing overall cost of ownership. “These features deliver a streamlined experience with vSphere and hybrid or multi-cloud resources so end users remain productive, and corporate data and applications remain secure,” said Leostream CEO Karen Gondoly. “At a time when there is uncertainty about the future of support for VMware’s end-user computing, it’s important to bring these options to the market to show that organizations can extend vSphere’s capabilities and simultaneously plan for the future without disruption to the workforce.” About Leostream Corporation Leostream Corporation, the global leader in Remote Desktop Access Platforms, offers comprehensive solutions that enable seamless work-from-anywhere environments for individuals across diverse industries, regardless of organization size or location. The core of the Leostream platform is its commitment to simplicity and insight. It is driven by a unified administrative console that streamlines the management of users, cloud desktops, and IT assets while providing real-time dashboards for informed decision-making.
