VMware COO: We Have a Bigger Plan For Security

Webpronews | September 12, 2019

Fundamentally, we have a bigger plan for security,” says VMware COO Sanjay Poonen. “We felt it was the perfect time for us to come up with a disruptive play that was based on big data, was AI, and was cloud-based. There were only two companies doing it, CrowdStrike and Carbon Black. We felt Carbon Black was better integrated to us, had as good a product or better. We have a plan to integrate Carbon Black and make it intrinsic in a way that nobody else will do. We think this will transform the security industry that’s been broken today. When you look at these types of transformational moments going on in digital transformation, these happen once every 10 to 20 years. VMware is the company that invented the virtual machine and for the last 20 years, we’ve created a million jobs in that part of infrastructure. There is a movement going on in digital transformation right now called containers. We believe it’s our birthright to own that movement. There will be potentially tens of millions of jobs among developers created on top of this virtual machine.

Citrix a Leader in Zero-Trust Network Access

Citrix | June 22, 2022

When it comes to protecting apps and data in the world of hybrid work, zero-trust network access (ZTNA) is the name of the game. And according to the GigaOm Radar for Zero-Trust Network Access, Citrix Systems, Inc.is a Leader and Fast Mover in delivering solutions companies can use to win it. “Virtual private networks (VPNs) have long been the default method of securing remote access, However, VPNs are limited with respect to the level of control they can provide, as they are unable to take into consideration the context in which legitimate users are accessing resources.” Chris Ray, Security Researcher, GigaOm Designed to assist IT organizations in identifying more modern ZTNA solutions that provide greater control, the GigaOm Radar for Zero-Trust Network Access evaluated 12 vendors on the following criteria: AM & MFA Vendor Integrations Cloud & SaaS Integrations UEBA-Like Capabilities Unmanaged Device Support Legacy Application Support Session Monitoring Capabilities Citrix was ranked as a Leader and Fast Mover in all categories, and noted for the extensibility, integration maturity and technical innovation of its ZTNA solutions. Citrix provides a unified stack of cloud-delivered secure access solutions that give employees the flexibility and choice to work where and how they prefer and IT the visibility and control to ensure they do so in a secure manner. “When it comes to securing apps and data, there’s more at stake than protecting against threats and vulnerabilities,” said Pankaj Gupta, Senior Director, Product Management, Citrix. “To remain productive and engaged, employees must be able to access the resources they need to get work done in a hassle-free way that is transparent to them.” With Citrix, they can. Citrix secure access solutions leverage the latest ZTNA technology to secure user access to all corporate applications—web, SaaS, client/server, and desktop as a service (DaaS)—whether they're deployed in public clouds or on-premises datacenters. Unlike traditional VPN and SSO which authenticate at login only, Citrix ZTNA solutions continuously evaluate risk factors throughout each session. When suspicious activity is detected, granular security controls automatically kick and work in the background to change how users are authorized to interact with apps to keep things safe without hampering their experience. “Citrix’s strategy to combine holistic security with a great user experience is a key differentiator,” Ray notes. Among the other strengths called out within the report: Completeness of solution Very strong, well-thought-out features Unmanaged device support through a remote browser Robust data loss prevention technologies Simple, mature integrations with other technologies “Network and application security has gotten complicated, and we are pleased to be recognized by GigaOm as a leader in delivering solutions that companies can use to simplify it by enacting a modern approach that supports the future of work,” Gupta said. Comcast Business Partners with Fortinet to Secure Enterprise Application Access with New SASE and SSE Solutions

Fortinet | August 02, 2022

Comcast Business today announced a strategic partnership with Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT), a global leader in broad, integrated and automated cybersecurity solutions, to deliver enterprises a new set of secure access service edge (SASE), and security service edge (SSE) solutions to help enterprises protect their distributed workforces using a cloud-delivered approach to security policy enforcement. This collaboration expands Comcast Business’s managed services expertise, while giving enterprises greater flexibility to choose the cloud architecture and vendor mix that is right for them. In today’s work-from-anywhere world, IT leaders are challenged with balancing employee convenience with securing their networks. New security architectures, such as SASE, which converges networking and security via SD-WAN and cloud-delivered security, and SSE, the security foundation of SASE, enable enterprises to strengthen their security posture while enhancing employees’ experience, regardless of their location. In fact, according to a recent Foundry CIO research study sponsored by Masergy (a Comcast Business company) and Fortinet, the overwhelming majority (98%) of enterprise IT leaders surveyed cited the convergence of network and security as critical or very important, while 94% said their adoption of SASE solutions has accelerated. The new Comcast Business offerings — delivered through Comcast Business Secure Gateways — give enterprises the option to choose from either SASE or SSE solutions backed by Fortinet’s security-driven networking technology and Equinix’s flexible cloud connection Equinix Fabric™ for a complete secure network service. Enterprises wanting to enable safe access to cloud and web services can take advantage of the Comcast Business SSE solution, which brings together multiple cloud-delivered network security technologies in a fully-hosted environment. The Comcast Business SASE solution provides this hosted SSE security architecture combined with zero trust capabilities and any of Comcast Business’s SD-WAN solutions. “In today’s dynamic world, no two companies are alike and very few are the same as they were just two years ago,” said Amit Verma, Chief Technology Officer, Enterprise Solutions, Comcast Business. “By expanding our relationship with Fortinet, we are offering our clients more choice and the flexibility to choose a solution that works for them – while providing some of the latest security solutions to help keep them ready for the day – today and tomorrow.” Comcast Business Secure Gateways provide a fully-hosted set of SASE or SSE services covering a broad range of security networking solutions for Firewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS), Intrusion Prevention (IPS), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB), and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA). Comcast Business Secure Gateways are hosted across the United States at Equinix data centers, offering up to 10 gigabits per second (Gbps) of cloud connectivity for public, private, or hybrid cloud deployments. The Equinix Fabric™ enables support of Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, IBM and more than 200 SaaS providers. "In order to enhance user experience, reduce complexity, and improve their security posture against today’s most advanced and persistent threats, organizations must adopt solutions that converge networking and security, We’re pleased to work closely with Comcast Business to build SASE services that support customers at any stage of digital innovation with Fortinet’s industry leading security-driven networking technology.” John Maddison, EVP of products and CMO, Fortinet About Comcast Business Comcast Business offers a suite of Connectivity, Communications, Networking, Cybersecurity, Wireless, and Managed Solutions to help organizations of different sizes prepare for what’s next.
