Cloud Computing Characteristics Are Key

Cloud computing remains the buzzword winner of the current technology paradigm. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) defines cloud computing broadly as “a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (for example, networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.”1 NIST further describes cloud along three axes: characteristics, deployment model, and service model. This provides a rather bewildering matrix of possible implementations of cloud. However, by focusing on the characteristics that NIST defines, GP can see how close to an “ideal” cloud implementation your organization can perform. One central element to note about the NIST.

Developing Virtual Reality (VR) products

whitePaper | February 18, 2021

Extended Reality (XR) technologies will be key trends to watch out for in 2021 and beyond. We are likely to see a landslide of innovative products, applications, and use-cases delivering ever more realistic immersive experiences. Most of us have our first experiences of Virtual Reality (VR) in gaming and entertainment. However, research shows that the industries and enterprises are quickly becoming the most prominent users of XR, particularly Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) technologies. Developing custom VR devices is exceptionally challenging. Virtual Reality devices are incredibly complicated and highly integrated products. Each component, every line of code, and all the materials, design, and development choices have a universal effect on the device and determine how well it functions and what kind of user experience it delivers. We at Haltian have years of renowned product design and development experience with wearable devices, IoT solutions and successful VR devices. In this whitepaper, we describe ten crucial design considerations to help developers of VR devices succeed in their product development endeavour!

Cisco ACI Multi-Site Architecture

whitePaper | August 3, 2021

With the increasing adoption of Cisco® Application Centric Infrastructure (Cisco ACI®) as a pervasive fabric technology, enterprises and service providers commonly need to interconnect separate Cisco ACI fabrics. Business requirements (business continuance, disaster avoidance, etc.) lead to the deployment of separate data center fabrics, and these need to be interconnected with each other. Depending on the deployment option used (and as explained in this document), these fabrics may be called pods or fabrics and sites.

Threat detection and response in cloud environments

whitePaper | June 7, 2022

Cloud environments change fundamental assumptions in how to perform threat detection and response. The highly dynamic inventory of cloud workloads means systems come and go in seconds. When system configuration errors are introduced during a build, they can be exacerbated and amplified when automation replicates the errors across many workloads. Shared responsibility with the cloud service provider (CSP) creates potential threat detection gaps in the attack lifecycle.
