Virtualized SAP HANA on FlexPod Datacenter: Design Considerations and Best Practices

January 30, 2019

Support for running SAP HANA virtualized and Tailored Datacenter Integration (TDI) option enable customers to align established data center processes and reuse existing infrastructure while implementing SAP HANA. SAP supports VMware vSphere 6.5 and 6.7 for virtual deployments in production scenarios of SAP HANA on certified appliances and TDI verified hardware configurations. Customers thus can gain the benefits of virtualization for their SAP HANA environments and optimize costs through more efficient resource utilization. With Intel® Broadwell (running SAP HANA 1.0 SPS 12) and Intel Skylake processors (with SAP HANA 1.0 SPS 12 Revision 122.19, or with SAP HANA 2.0, recommended), virtual machines with up to 128 virtual CPUs (vCPUs) and 4 to 6 terabytes (TB) of main memory are possible.

As enterprises adopt cloud applications and BYOD, IT is faced with securing the proliferation of sensitive data that is now outside of corporate firewalls. Existing security technologies are simply not suited to solving this task, as they were developed to secure the corporate network perimeter. Adding to the challenge, companies must be able to strike the balance between IT security and employee needs.

Developing Virtual Reality (VR) products

whitePaper | February 18, 2021

Extended Reality (XR) technologies will be key trends to watch out for in 2021 and beyond. We are likely to see a landslide of innovative products, applications, and use-cases delivering ever more realistic immersive experiences. Most of us have our first experiences of Virtual Reality (VR) in gaming and entertainment. However, research shows that the industries and enterprises are quickly becoming the most prominent users of XR, particularly Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) technologies. Developing custom VR devices is exceptionally challenging. Virtual Reality devices are incredibly complicated and highly integrated products. Each component, every line of code, and all the materials, design, and development choices have a universal effect on the device and determine how well it functions and what kind of user experience it delivers. We at Haltian have years of renowned product design and development experience with wearable devices, IoT solutions and successful VR devices. In this whitepaper, we describe ten crucial design considerations to help developers of VR devices succeed in their product development endeavour!
