Project EVE Seed Code Drops, Creates Virtualization Standard for Edge Devices

Sdxcentral | May 17, 2019

The Linux Foundation this week received initial seed code from Zededa for Project EVE (Edge Virtualization Engine), one of its five open source edge projects.Zededa is a founding member of LF Edge, which the Linux Foundation formed in January as an umbrella organization for its edge projects. At the time, it also announced Project EVE to develop standard edge architecture that accommodates on- and off-premises hardware, network, and application selections. This enables edge gateways and devices to run a variety of edge workloads simultaneously, decoupling application management from the underlying hardware. Applications can be deployed in standard virtual machines (VM) or container environments and be managed through a standard set of APIs.
